DVSA Text message trial

This month the DVSA started to send text messages to learners to offer encouragement and to check if they were feeling confident about taking the driving test.

The text messages are designed to inform and support learner drivers in the run-up to their driving test.

Bob Hannigan, Head of National Standards and Accreditation at DVSA explains here the reason for carrying out the research.

Surepass findings have been some learners are concerned about receiving the text messages thinking they’re spam or someone has hacked their account. Indeed some Surepass driving instructors have also expressed concern as they booked the driving test for the pupil so are receiving the text messages too.

The DVSA tell us that learners will receive 1 of 10 trial messages, the messages will be recognisable as they end in a number ending 284.
